I don't know what it is about 7th & Nicollet and street preachers, but whenever I have to catch the bus there, there always seems to be one/a group. Most recently, it was this guy:

Photobucket

I had to get up suuuuper close to take the picture because my camera phone is shitty, and it was very awkward, haha. And I almost missed my bus because of it! I turned around right after I took the picture, and there it was, almost ready to leave! It's a shame, because this was one of the few times I felt like confronting/arguing with him (I've seen the same guy at 7th & Nicollet, and also around campus). He's always shouting about how everyone's going to hell (except him, of course).

I know I haven't updated in forever, but -

Expect an Obama victory speech post tomorrow! With pictures! (We were front row on the floor, RIGHT behind the barriers - about 10 or 15 feet away from him!)

I went to see the Jonathan Coulton concert last night! (thanks to Heather and Mark driving me there, haha.)

It was pretty much amazing, except the seats were hella uncomfortable. My butt was soooo sore by the end of the night. But it was definitely worth it!

A couple of photos from someone's Flickr account, because my camera sucks and my pictures turned out horribly blurryCollapse )

I really should have taken some pictures of the theater, though, because it was all decked out for Christmas, with trees and lights, and it was gorgeous.

He played all the favorites - Re: Your Brains, Still Alive, First of May, and a requested "Soft Rocked," which, uh, did not turn out too well (he forgot the words) and was promptly segued into "Peaceful Easy Feeling."

And apparently Neil Gaiman was in attendance! I obviously did not see him at all, haha, but he mentioned it in his blog today.

So, my dog is not doing so well. She's had arthritis for a long time, but in the past few days, she's deteriorated really quickly. She falls down a lot, and has to be carried up any sort of stairs. Of course, all of the entrances to our house have stairs, and even though there's only one or two, she can't make it by herself. The vet has no clue what it is - it could be cancer, an inner ear infection, or any number of things. We bought her some medicine to make the pain go away, and it's $140 a month, and doesn't even seem to be working, so my dad thinks we're going to put her to sleep this weekend. I'm happy that I'll at least get to see her before it happens, but this still pretty much sucks. :/

Other than that, my life is going pretty well, though. I've been keeping pretty busy with school and such, so there's not really anything interesting to say, haha. I'm definitely ready for winter break, though!

I'm seeing my academic advisor this Friday, but this is a tentative schedule for next semester:

Intermediate Accounting II Tue/Thur 9:55-11:35a
Cost Accounting Tue/Thur 1:30-3:10p
Investment Theory Wed 6:00-9:30p
Nabakov Mon/Wed/Fri 2:20-3:20p (At Macalester)

I might take Financial Management instead of Investment Theory, though, because I reeeeally do not want to take a night class.

Soooo, an LJ update, because I don't think I've written anything since school started!

My classes this semester -
-Statistical Analysis of Economics and Business
-Managerial Accounting
-Intermediate Accounting I
-Art and Technology

I am loving it, because there are pretty much no essays to write! Math, I can do. Writing, I can also do, for the most part, it just takes me forever.

Of course, I have way too much free time, and I definitely need to get another job. Right now I'm working as a tutor for Macroeconomics, but it's only two hours a week, which obviously doesn't help much. I don't really have a huge homework load, and I kind of feel like a jackass, sitting around all the time when I could be doing something useful. :/ I'm trying to get into Carlson next year, which is practically impossible, so I'll probably join a few clubs to beef up my transcript a little bit. So, that'll take up some extra time, but still...

My big unhappy news is that my dad lost his job a couple of weeks ago. Since he's the one that made all of the money, that means I'm pretty much...screwed. We filed a change of situation form with the school, so hopefully I'll actually get some financial aid for once, but still. (Which is another reason why it would be great to get into Carlson - much cheaper!) He gets unemployment for awhile, but that's still a pretty severe paycut compared to what we're used to. Even when he finds another job, it still probably won't be as much money...Even though that job was a ridiculous amount of hours (I think it was getting to be around 70 a week), the pay was pretty awesome.

Anyway, I think that's about all that's going on in my life right now...it's mostly uneventful, which is probably why I rarely update, haha.

Ow ow ow.

Looks like I'm going to have to get my wisdom teeth taken out soon. My gums are all swollen on the left side. :/

And just in time for school to start, too!

*pain*

I watched Pirates on Wednesday night. XD It was pretty amusing, and I'm glad I watched it in a group for that reason, haha. But it led to us staying up until 3:30, so I didn't get anything done on Thursday.

I'm home for the weekend, but I think I might just end up being lazy, and staying home to watch movies and stuff.

My life is boring. :(

I go back to school in a week, and I already have homework! *grumbles* (okay, I've had homework for a couple of weeks, I've just chosen to procrastinate). I have to write an essay about why I decided to take the class (which will be fairly easy), and then I have to write about myself, which I hate doing. My life has been pretty spectacularly uneventful.

Also, I dyed my hair last night! pictureCollapse ) If I want to be lame and do the Kairi cosplay, I'll have to dye it again before the end of March, though. I think the dark hair looks a lot better on me than when I had those blonde highlights last year. :) I'll probably keep it this way, if not go a little darker after Anime Detour.

Aaaaand, I moved into my new room at school today. It's a lot bigger, but now there's not really a good place to put the fridge unless we loft one of the beds. :/ I still need to unpack a few things (and put some more posters up to make it look pretty!), but I like it a lot better already. The lighting is much better, and there's a lot more room to put all of our stuff.

I'm starting to get weirdly excited about Anime Detour, even though I had a terrible time the last two years I went, haha. Hopefully that means it will actually be fun this year!

I saw Pan's Labyrinth tonight, thanks to Buri and her sneak preview passes, and it was pretty much completely amazing. A lot more violent than I expected it to be, though - I thought it would be more scary than violent. The creatures were deliciously creepy, and the ending made me sad. :/ (However, it made Brianna happy, so, you know. *shrug*)

And now I am eating a very healthy dinner of Sour Patches and strawberry Pop Tarts. Eek.

Yay, it's a movie watching weekend!

Saw Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D yesterday, which was completely awesome. I don't think I've ever seen a 3-D movie in the theater before. When did they stop doing the red-blue glasses?

Saw Saw III today, which was...eh. I don't know, the reason I liked the first one was that it was thrilling and suspenseful and scary...without being gorey. And this one was definitely gorey. :/ I wasn't really scared or creeped out at any point during the movie, mostly just grossed out.

And tomorrow I'm seeing The Departed! Which I'm excited for because everyone has been telling me it's amazing.

I have way too much homework this weekend. Mostly because of our 'controversial issues' project for TRW. I have to read like 15 different books for it, ugh. And I have to rewrite my Psych paper for Monday.

I'm not used to having drama and it's kind of annoying. I hope this boyfriend thing gets fixed soon one way or the other. I just want it to be over, because it's kind of depressing me.
